FLEXOID PAPER
Because of its ability to seal against petrol, oil and water at low cost, Flexoid is used extensively by leading British, European and US automotive manufacturers. Limited uses in industrial markets because of relatively low heat and chemical resistance compared with non-asbestos materials.

ARMSTRONG N-8O94
N-8094 is a low density gasket material that conforms well to irregular flange surfaces and has very good crush resistance at high flange pressures. It is intended for sealing oils, fuels, and water in applications with short duration maximum temperatures up to 180°C (350°F).

CORK
The buoyance of natural cork is used to good effect in petrol and oil level gauges, but the most important application of cork in the automotive industries is in cork-and-rubber gaskets. The material used combines the compressibility and resilience of cork with the high mechanical strength and dimensional stability of rubber, making them the best substances of such automotive applications as oil pan gaskets, valve cover gaskets and timing gear cover gaskets.
