For many years the food and drinks industry has had a problem with contamination caused by silicone rubber particles inadvertently falling into the production process as traditional silicone rubber gaskets and seals are compromised by natural wear and tear.
If left undetected for any significant length of time, Silicone contamination can end up heaping large unwanted costs on businesses as a result of lost production and product recalls.
The Metal Detectable Silicone Sheet has a special additive that alerts metal detecting equipment stationed along the production line, flagging up any silicone contamination almost instantly and allowing any contamination to be kept to a minimum.
The sheet is also coloured blue, that’s because it is the only colour that does not appear naturally in food and so can be easily identified.
TYM’s Range of Metal Detectable Silicone Sheets
At TYM we stock a comprehensive range of Metal Detectable Silicone Sheet in 0.5mm,1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, 4mm, 5mm and 6mm thickness in 1 metre wide and 10 metre as standard.
The silicone sheeting itself is produced to Food Grade 60A standard and comes in three detection grades; Standard, Premium and Super. The sheet can be used as rolls or punched into gaskets, extrusions and moulded parts, operates effectively at temperatures between 60oC to 230oC and features excellent resistance to ozone, oxidation, ultraviolet light, ionising radiation and general wear and tear.
