TYM Seals and Gaskets have nearly 40 years experience in supplying and manufacturing gaskets and seals made from silicone, FKM fluoroelastomer, neoprene, nitrile and more. As well as this, we have been supplying door seals to the autoclave industry for the past 25 years, and have built a strong reputation as one of the leading suppliers in the UK and Europe.
In that time, we have also aimed to revolutionize multiple industries through innovative technology, with the help from our engineers who have decades of knowledge and expertise.
So, you may be asking yourself…
What is an Autoclave?
Used in several industries, autoclaves clean equipment and keep them free from bacteria. Autoclaves use steam and high pressure to clean and sterilize equipment in a manner similar to a pressure cooker. Contaminated items are loaded in one end of a large cylindrical chamber, where it is then sealed off by a door and door seal. The front door to the autoclave then seals off the outside atmosphere from the items inside the chamber, where a manual lock and door seal help keep the contents inside secure, as well as prevent leakage.
The seals on autoclaves are usually made of silicone, as it helps to keep moisture from escaping the autoclave, as well as protecting the contents from the outside atmosphere. Sometimes however, these seals will need to be graphited before fitting to the autoclave and this can be a tricky and messy process.
That’s why we’re proud to introduce our new and latest piece of technology.
SLIK Seal
Spending six years in development, TYM have pioneered a self-exuding oil silicone rubber, also known as SLIK-Seal. This rubber will revolutionize the autoclave and door seal industry as it will eliminate the messy process of graphiting, saving you time, money and stress. As well as this, with SLIK-Seal, there is no shrinkage and no forming either, making it the ideal product for you or your business.
In autoclaves, it’s common for rubber door seals to become dry, cracked, and brittle over time, which causes a lot of noise when you close the door. SLIK-Seal’s self-exuding oil characteristic will help revolutionize the industry, as mentioned previously, due to the fact that it will help eliminate other methods of oiling and softening that may be more expensive, more time consuming and more difficult.
Along with this, SLIK-Seal is on average twice as long lasting as standard seal doors, meaning you‘ll get value for money and the reassurance that it won’t easily break or damage in the autoclave process.
The team here at TYM are very proud of this new product that our engineers have expertly crafted over the course of 6 years, and we can’t wait until you get to try SLIK-Seal for yourself.
